Infrastructure design
Infrastructure design includes pipe design, outfalls, and other civil infrastructure associated with stormwater management and conveyance.
Codes of Practice and Infrastructure Design Standards
Codes of practice (COP) or infrastructure design standards set out the design requirements for projects within a territorial authorities area. COP provide the guidance for understanding the local application of regional, national or international principles.
- Selwyn District COP – Section 5 – Stormwater (758 KB)
- Waimakariri District COP – Section 5 – Stormwater (781 KB)
- Hurunui District COP – Section 4 – Stormwater (7.31 MB)
- Christchurch City Council – Section 5 of the Infrastructure Design Standards
Waterways, Wetlands and Drainage Guide (WWDG)
Hydraulic design is covered in chapter 22 of the WWDG (2.4 MB). This covers the design of a wide range of structures, from riffle, run and pool design to sump design.
New Zealand Standards
The most relevant New Zealand standard for stormwater infrastructure design is NZS 4404:2010 – Land development and subdivision infrastructure.
